New Leaf Pick-up Program

The Village of Pentwater is making an important change to our fall leaf pickup program beginning this year.

For many years, residents have raked leaves to the roadside for collection with the Village's leaf vacuum truck. Over time, this method has become increasingly difficult for DPW staff to manage. The volume of leaves has grown, our leaf collection equipment has become antiquated, and piles of leaves along the roadway are often affected by rain and wind before they can be collected.

What's New

Village of Pentwater, Leaf Pickup and Dropoff, Helpful Reminders Beginning this all, the Village will transition to a bagged leaf collection program.
Residents should place leaves in approved compostable leaf bags and set them at the curb for collection.

Free Bags & Additional Bags
To help with the transition, the Village will provide 10 compostable leaf bags per household at NO charge. Bags will be available for pickup at the Village Hall during regular business hours beginning October 1, 2026. Residents who need additional bags may purchase them from the Village for 75 cents per bag.

There will be no collection zones under the new program.

Residents may simply place their properly bagged leaves at the curb for pickup on the scheduled collection days.

If you have any leaves or yard clippings before or beyond the scheduled cleanup dates they can be dropped off at the Pentwater Township Transfer Station located behind the Dollar General store just off of Monroe Road.
